Daniel Grayson has just been shot at his engagement party. At this point, we do not even really know who he is. All we can clearly say is Emily, his fiance, is really pretty and his mother, Victoria Grayson does not like Emily. Oh and lets not forget his sister, Charlotte Grayson, we can clearly see that she is dating an idiot by name, Declan Porter. Lol.
A five month flashback tells us, Emily Thorne is really Amanda Clarke. We learn that she has a vendetta against the Graysons for framing her father and Noland Ross is prepared to help her destroy them because he owes her father loyalty for financing his company. Emily is really scary. She goes to great lengths to infiltrate the Grayson family and clique. In fact, her meeting Daniel is by no chance at all as she intentionally spills her drink on him.
She begins her vendetta with Olivia Davies, Victoria's supposed best friend. You almost feel sorry for Olivia until you discover her affair with Conrad Grayson. Another negative for Olivia is shown when it is revealed that she was the secretary that lied on the stand against David Clarke during his trail. Emily totally destroys her by subtly telling Victoria that Olivia is having an affair with her husband. From here on, Olivia's career as a socialite is over as Victoria openly rejects her as a friend.
On the other hand, we meet the Porters; Jack, his father and his brother. Jack Porter is the childhood friend of Amanda Clarke and he seems to even be in love with her, thus he names his boat, Amanda.
